Help Save Moogle's Life

Tue Aug 11, 2009, 8:03 AM

  • Watching: Star Trek (or want to, yet again)
  • Eating: Raisins
  • Drinking: Coffee
Here is Moogle: [link] He's a sweet cat that *Axolotl-mafia is trying to save. He's a stray cat with a bad eye infection, and will need surgery to be saved :(

*Axolotl-mafia has a baby on the way, along with her own cat in need of surgery, and can't afford to cover the costs of veterinary care on her own. So, if you can, donate anything you can to *Axolotl-mafia's PayPal account :)

If (like myself, with college coming up again and no job currently :( ) you can't donate, then write a journal, and fave the picture (linked above and below).

WAY Overdue Update!

So...haven't been very active lately...I've been on dA often, but obviously haven't updated in a while

Reasons for this is that my laptop is toast :( Broken screen + Mac = You're better off buying a new laptop, because the screen would cost twice as much as a new Windows laptop *groan*

Plus I've just finished up my fist year of college. Woot, only 3-5 years to go!

And to top it all off, I've had an art block for who knows how long, and the fact that I've lost access to my Aroca script (which I'm not even that inspired to continued right now :/ ) doesn't help...or the fact that I'd have to use MS Paint to draw out comics and whatever.

So...you may see me again soon, you may not.

Twitter (Nothing art-related, just if you feel like following random people ;P )

When did you join DA and why?

February 17, 2008; I'd heard about it a couple times at the The TLK Fan-Art Archive, but didn't really get into it until I started reading :icontimitu:'s story on dA. Wasn't long after that when I got an account

-What was the first deviation you uploaded?

This one, though Taka's Story has changed a lot since then (not like you guys would notice, I barely upload pages ;P

[link]

-How many deviations have you submitted?

62 so far. Working on one now, and hoping I'll be able to scan a hand-drawn Heath Ledger tribute I did...

-Do you submit everything you create?

Nope, but mostly because I don't own a scanner, so you guys only see them if I draw them into Photoshop. There's also some stuff I like to keep to myself ;)

-Do you read all the comments you get?

Yes, and try to reply to all of them

-Do you reply to all the comments you get?

Usually, unless they're repetitive ones like "Thanks for the fave" But I usually try to respond on ones about my art :)

-Do you read all the favourites/watches you get?

Yes; sometimes I'm interested in the artist that faves my work or watches me, and I do the same right back. You find a lot of good artists that way :)

-Do you prefer comments or favs?

Don't really have a preference. If they like my art enough to fave it, then that's good enough for me. Though taking the time to comment the piece is equally appreciated

-How much time do you spend on Deviantart?

Depends on how many deviations and messages I have to look at

-Do you think that Deviantart is good for critique?

Depends. Half the time comments aren't much more than "That's cool!", "How cute!", etc. Or it's the opposite, where somebody simply complains about how much they hate the art without giving any suggestions for improvement. I think it's good if the critiques are meant to help the artist, rather than tell them they're doing everything

-Do you think there's a lot of drama on DA?

Yep. Best way to deal with it is to remember you're here for the art, not for the drama. Makes it much easier to resist hanging around the "drama llamas"

-Do you think DA would be better if it filtered out people who are not serious at artwork or causing too much drama?

Nah; first of all, I'd be kicked out because I'm not serious about my art at all  I just do it for fun, like a lot of artists around here, so you can't just simply kick everyone out who isn't creating art to make money, become a professional artist, etc.

As for the "drama llamas," there's not much you can do about it. You take one away, and there's going to be another one around to cause trouble. Heck, could be someone that pissed about their drama-loving friend being banned, and they start their own trouble.

-Do you think the age limit should be higher than 13 for creating an account?

Not sure what to say, since I was already 18 when I started here ;P I personally think it's fine, as long as they act their age (not stealing art, bugging artists to watch them, etc.)

-Do you go on the DA forums?

Nope; always seems to be some sort of drama going on when I visit, so I tend to stay away

-Would you buy a subscription? Why or why not?

I'd like to, but I may not use it as much as some artists. I would love some of the features, like the journal CSS and the new Twitter app, but I think it's more for artists that really like making art, and keeping their galleries well maintained

Liking the new profile pages...

  • Mood: Daily Needs
  • Listening to: My fan
  • Reading: Nothing, but should be reading for Geology
  • Watching: Nothing, but may watch Dark Knight later
  • Eating: White Cheddar Popcorn
  • Drinking: Cherry Coke
...but they seem to like reminding me that I'm a poor college student  Sorry dA, you have great sub features, but tuition (& basic needs) come first ;)

And, ironically enough, I just paid tuition today ;P

On another note, Rest in Peace, Heath Ledger :( Though it's fitting that you happened to get your supporting actor Oscar nomination today :D Though maybe not so cool if what Gary Oldman said in Entertainment Weekly was true...

"If Heath does get an Oscar nomination, I can just picture him up there, looking down and going, 'F---!'"

But Milk got a lot of nominations too (unlike the Golden Globes) :) Slumdog Millionaire might be hard to beat, though!

One last note, whether you like him or not, fellow Americans, Happy 3rd Day of the Bush-less Obama administration :D

10 Reasons Why Being Gay ISN'T Wrong

Thu Jan 15, 2009, 2:42 PM
  • Mood: Pride
  • Listening to: Food Network on my room's TV
  • Reading: Textbooks for my new classes
  • Watching: Milk...again! Get this movie some Oscars!
  • Drinking: Berry Chai
Stolen from :iconfuzzlekitty:, who stole it from :iconyummei: ;P

1. Being Gay Is Not Natural

And real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning, tattoos, piercings and silicon breasts...

2. Gay Marriage Will Encourage People To Be Gay

In the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

3. Legalizing Gay Marriage Will Open The Door To All Kinds Of
Crazy Behavior

People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has
legal standing and can sign a marriage contract. Lamps are next.

4. Straight Marriage Has Been Around A Long Time And Hasn't Changed At All

Hence why women are still property, blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

5. Straight Marriage Will Be Less Meaningful If Gay Marriage Were Allowed

And we can't let the sanctity of Britney Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage be destroyed.

6. Straight Marriages Are Valid Because They Produce Children

So therefore, gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our population isn't out of control, our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more children.

7. Obviously Gay Parents Will Raise Gay Children

Since, of course, straight parents only raise straight children.

8. Gay Marriage Is Not Supported By Religion

In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.

9. Children Can Never Succeed Without A Male And A Female Role Model

Which is exactly why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.

10. Gay Marriage Will Change The Foundation Of Society; We Could Never Adapt To New Social Norms

Just like we haven't adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans.
